Our Preventative Dentistry Program
At Anchorage Midtown Dental Center, we believe excellent and regular preventative care is the best way to preserve our patients' smiles. Prevention is always better than intervention, such as a filling or extraction. Our program is designed to help prevent new cavities, preserve restored teeth, and manage periodontal disease. Your Anchorage Midtown family dentist will provide you with oral hygiene instructions that should be followed at home for the best results. Your dentist will then review and reinforce these instructions during subsequent visits to our state-of-the-art dentistry clinic.
Instructions For A Healthy And Bright Smile
Proper Brushing: You should brush your teeth at least twice per day in a circular motion with a soft-bristled toothbrush aimed at the gum.
Flossing: You should be flossing every night. Keep floss in a U-shape and against the tooth surface and move in an up and down motion to remove food and debris from between teeth.
Proper Oral Habits: To get a glowing report during your check-up, you should try to refrain from smoking or eating sticky, sugary foods. Instead, eat a balanced diet and use antiseptic and fluoride rinses as directed and your mouth will remain clean and healthy.
Sealants: Ask your Anchorage family dentist about dental sealants. Dental sealants are placed on young permanent teeth to keep them free of debris and bacteria that can cause cavities, tooth decay and other dental problems later on.
We also offer IV sedation (Sleep Dentistry) and other options for fearful or anxious patients.
